Bio-phenolic compounds production through fast pyrolysis: Demineralizing olive pomace pretreatments

نویسندگان

چکیده

An original pathway to renewable production of phenol-rich bio-oil by fast pyrolysis pretreated olive pomace (OP) was researched. However, inherent inorganic elements (especially alkali and alkaline earth metals) in biomass feedstocks largely modified the final composition. To alter their catalytic activity pyrolysis, different demineralisation processes (water, acid pretreatments) were employed. There also an in-depth study phenolic compounds, analysing oxygen-containing substituted groups linked benzene ring. From water leached samples, potassium removed, enhancing selective guaiacol (at room temperature) syringol T = 90 ºC). Important differences observed with HCl HNO3 pretreatments regarding carboxylic distribution. For pretreatment NaOH, sodium content sample increase 83%. Thus, optimal selectivity (36.9%) achieved for OP sample, where (5.9%) vinyl (6.2%) yields increased methyl decreased. This marks efficient clean converting agricultural waste into valuable enriched bio-oil. could constitute a new way obtaining these compounds using agriculture biomass.

Antifungal Activity of Phenolic Compounds Extracted from Dried Olive Pomace

The antifungal activity of phenolic compounds extracted from olive pomace against Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium culmorum was investigated. Olive pomace, a by-product of olive oil production, was used as a source of phenolic compounds. The extracted phenolics were added to a medium to reach phenol concentration of 0.1 and 0.2 % (w/v) and tested for their antifungal activity ag...

Pyrolysis of Seaweeds for Bio-oil and Bio-char Production

A pyrolysis study on a species of brown algae Saccharina japonica was carried out in a fixed-bed reactor. The yields of bio-oil and bio-char obtained at 450 C were 47 % and 33 %, respectively. The raw S, japonica, ethanol and acid pretreated samples and the resulting pyrolysis products were also characterized with respect to proximate and ultimate analysis, and higher heating value. The crude b...

Genetic and Quantitative Trait Locus Analysis for Bio-Oil Compounds after Fast Pyrolysis in Maize Cobs

Fast pyrolysis has been identified as one of the biorenewable conversion platforms that could be a part of an alternative energy future, but it has not yet received the same attention as cellulosic ethanol in the analysis of genetic inheritance within potential feedstocks such as maize. Ten bio-oil compounds were measured via pyrolysis/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Py/GC-MS) in maize co...
